Why Help?

Youthunited volunteers make a difference at this United Way Toronto agency
"You can’t have a healthy society or a healthy economy if you don’t tackle them together…citizen led organizations and citizen engagement can move mountains."

- David Pecaut

Member, United Way Toronto Board of Trustees

Have you ever thought, "what can one person do?" or even "why should I try to make a difference?"

No one person can solve a community’s problems on his or her own.  It takes a community to make a community a better place to live.  That is what United Way and Youthunited are all about.

The community you live in belongs to you too and you have a right to voice your opinion about it and effect positive change on it.

  1. You may not have your driver’s license yet, but you walk the streets right?
  2. You may not have full-time income, but you go to school there right?
  3. You may not pay taxes yet, but you spend your money in the stores there right?

If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, then you know that your community is your responsibility too.  And if you believe that something is lacking in your community, it’s your right and your responsibility to do something about it!

Youthunited through United Way Toronto offers Toronto teens a voice and a platform to take action.  Through youth philanthropy, teens demonstrate that they are leaders, not followers and that they are role-models not only for other teens, but for adults as well.

United Way Toronto makes youth a priority and works in the Toronto communities where teens live, go to school, work and socialize.
