Our Service Areas
United Way is uniquely positioned to make change happen. We work with the people on the front lines – a vital network of over 200 health and social service agencies that help strengthen lives and neighbourhoods across Toronto. To identify critical service areas, United Way conducts research, taking into account those areas of urgent human need and the unique social issues facing our city.
United Way has three priority areas:
- Building strong neighbourhoods
- Creating opportunities for youth
- Helping newcomers fulfill their potential
We continue to focus on:
- Helping individuals become more employable
- Preventing hunger and homelessness
- Helping women who have been abused
- Giving young children a healthy start
- Helping people with disabilities live independently
- Delivering health care support services
- Keeping seniors active in their community
- Supporting people with AIDS/HIV
- Helping people overcome addictions
