Volunteering with United Way Toronto
Volunteers are the heart and soul of United Way Toronto. When it comes to building stronger neighbourhoods and improving the lives of Torontonians, we couldn’t do it without volunteer support. Our more than 23,000 volunteers are vital to United Way Toronto’s operation. Each year, these individuals give their time, energy and enthusiasm to volunteer for our community through United Way. Whether they’re renovating a community agency, directing traffic at a fundraising event or delivering a workshop on budgeting in a low-income neighbourhood, our volunteers are making a real difference in our community. So get involved, be active, make an impact — volunteer.
Different ways you can volunteer
Giving back to your city through volunteerism with United Way Toronto is easy. From giving your individual time and effort to being a part of an employee team at one of our fundraising events, or providing one-time support to committing to long-term opportunities, we have many rewarding volunteer opportunities to suit your schedule and interests. Volunteering can mean taking part by providing event support, operational support, giving back at one of our member agencies, or lending your skills and expertise as a professional volunteer. In our website’s volunteer section, you’ll discover all the different ways to give back.
United Way Toronto Adopts Code for Volunteer Involvement
To recognize the contribution of our volunteers, to foster an environment that is inclusive and respectful of volunteers, and to expand the capacity of our organization, on April 18, 2013, the Board of Trustees of United Way Toronto endorsed a statement adopting Volunteer Canada's Canadian Code for Volunteer Involvement. A full copy of the Code is available at http://volunteer.ca/content/canadian-code-volunteer-involvement-2012-edition
