TORONTO — Today, United Way’s President and CEO Susan McIsaac and George Cope, President and CEO of Bell Canada and BCE and this year’s United Way Campaign Chair, were joined by an energetic crowd of community agencies, local initiatives, and supporters to officially launch this year’s campaign. The pair also announced a city-wide fundraising goal of $117-million at the YWCA.

"I’m excited and honoured to serve as the United Way Toronto Campaign Chair for 2013," said Cope. "Together, we can face the challenges confronting our community and make a real difference in the lives of so many in this great city."

Speaking to an enthusiastic crowd of volunteers, supporters and friends, McIsaac expressed her gratitude and enthusiasm for United Way’s growing movement.

"United Way could not do the work we do without the generous support of Torontonians across our city," said McIsaac. "It is amazing how many people join us each year to help build a better Toronto, a better place to live, work and raise a family — and to each of you, our sincere and heartfelt thanks."

Funds raised through United Way’s 2013 Campaign will provide direct investments to the charity’s network of about 200 social service agencies across Toronto. These agencies provide important services and resources to people when they need it the most. Investments will also be made to support United Way’s long-term efforts to strengthen the inner suburbs through its Building Strong Neighbourhoods Strategy.
