Donations to United Way Toronto impact the lives of hundreds of thousands of people every year. The following is a brief list of examples that show what a difference United Way and its member agencies made in just one year*:
Enabled 27,377 newcomers and/or refugees to find employment, allowing them to begin their new professional lives in Canada.
Enabled an estimated 341,000 newcomers and/or refugees to participate in a United Way agency program or service, helping them to successfully settle and integrate in their new country.
Enabled an estimated 295,000 youth to participate in educational and recreational school programs, mentoring programs, counselling sessions, and violence prevention and leadership programs, helping them to build better futures and put them on the path to success.
Enabled 44,755 young children (0-6 years old) to participate in a school readiness program.
Delivered 442,299 meals on wheels to seniors, people with disabilities and others with health care needs, helping them to maintain their independence.
Enabled an estimated 28,500 adults with disabilities to participate in United Way agency programs and services, helping them to live independently and stay engaged in the community.
Provided 75,623 nights of shelter and 210,499 hours of counselling for women/partners who have been abused, helping them to begin new lives free from violence.
Provided 337,167 nights of shelter to homeless people and enabled 610 homeless individuals to find employment, helping their transition to independent living.
