Women Gaining Ground

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How often do members meet?

A: We hold two annual member events, each spring and fall. In addition, members participate in the grant selection process, volunteer events, one-on-one mentoring, and visits with our funded programs. Members are also invited to attend United Way's annual Leading Women event.

Although Women Gaining Ground members are not obligated to attend meetings, events and volunteer opportunities, we hope you will take advantage of this valuable membership benefit.

Q: How does my involvement with Women Gaining Ground relate to my workplace United Way Campaign?

A: Women Gaining Ground is a membership-based initiative developed specifically for women who want to have a personal impact on social issues affecting women and their families. It is distinct from your contribution to your workplace campaign in the fall. If you wish, your gift through Women Gaining Ground can be credited to your workplace campaign, upon your request.

If you are a United Way Community Fund donor, we ask you to continue that important support, as your donation helps United Way Toronto's member agencies across the community. You will be publicly recognized for both your special gift through Women Gaining Ground and your annual workplace donation in United Way's Honour Roll.

Q: I know other professional women who would likely be interested in Women Gaining Ground. Can I invite them to become involved?

A: We would be delighted to welcome new members to Women Gaining Ground. Please forward names and contact information to United Way Toronto via email womengainingground@uwgt.org or phone 416-777-1444 ext. 312.
