United Way Toronto’s Sponsored Employees

United Way Toronto’s Sponsored Employee Program is a unique volunteer engagement opportunity for potential leaders in your organization. This 15-week full-time program engages a broad cross section of candidates to provide support, guidance and inspiration to approximately 900 United Way Toronto workplace campaigns across the city.

Build a better business by participating in the Sponsored Employee Program

By supporting the Sponsored Employee Program, your organization will enjoy the following benefits:

While working under the supervision of a professional United Way fundraiser, all participants will have the chance to develop or enhance valuable skills that may include:

  • Sales and customer service skills
  • Teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Public speaking skills
  • Leadership skills
  • Time and project management skills
  • Organization, facilitation and analytical skills

Get involved in two different ways

Sponsor an employee to the program for 15 weeks from September 3 to December 13, 2013. The employee will assist with the annual workplace campaign on a full-time basis. Their salary and benefits continue to be paid by the employer. The Sponsored Employee Program can help your employee develop professional skills while teaming up with United Way Toronto to build a better city for everyone.

Provide financial support in lieu of a Sponsored Employee. Your organization’s financial support of $10,000 gives United Way Toronto the flexibility to hire an individual with specific skills to support our fundraising efforts. This is an ideal option for organizations looking to support the program, but that are not in a position to second an employee for the requisite 15-week period.

In 2012, 23 generous organizations participated in United Way Toronto’s Sponsored Employee Program by seconding an employee or donating sponsorship funding. You can view the list of sponsoring organizations.
