Newcomer Grants Program

Newcomer Grants provide project funding, for up to two years, to community agencies in order to address specific settlement issues faced by immigrants and refugees. The goals of the Newcomer Grants program include:

Newcomer Grants are time-limited, non-renewable project grants. The grants do not provide ongoing operating or capital support to agencies. Agencies can apply individually or in partnership with other organizations.

Newcomer Grants will be available for projects in three areas:

  1. Innovative Service Delivery Models
  2. Improving Access to Services
  3. Service Coordination

Requests for Information (RFI) will be assessed relative to the following overall criteria:

  1. Have clear goal(s) and objectives
  2. Are culturally and linguistically sensitive
  3. Involve individuals, community(ies) and organizations most affected by the issue
  4. Are time-limited, with realistic implementation and sustainability plans
  5. Focus on high priority newcomer communities

United Way Toronto will hold Information Sessions to explain the Newcomer Grants criteria and application process on Friday May 30, 2008 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am and 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm at the United Way Toronto office.
